Overview
Hogwarts is the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from the famous book series Harry Potter. Before the first dinner of the school year, the first year students go through a sorting process where they are placed into one of the four houses of Hogwarts. This is managed by a magical talking hat called the Sorting Hat, that can look inside each individual's brain and determine if they are best fit for either Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin.

There are many ideas about how the placement into houses gets done; many people guess that it is a system based on one's values and personality. There is a Harry Potter Sorting Hat quiz on the official Harry Potter fan website Pottermore that uses people's values and places them into one of the four houses. It has been collecting responses as well as house placement for thousands of users, making it a perfect data set to use. Since this quiz has been a hugely popular applet on the site and Harry Potter is an entire brand of it's own, I thought it would be interesting to see how accurate this quiz was.
My goal for this project is to use machine learning techniques to explore the possible algorithms that the website might use in their implementation of the sorting hat problem as well as see if the model the quiz data creates is accurate at predicting the correct house for characters in the novel based on their values and personalities.
